Slowly, Danny Meyer's Shake Shack is changing the landscape of the burger world. It started in Madison Square Park in 2001, with a hot dog cart created by Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group to support the Madison Square Park Conservancy's first art installation. Fans of the cart lined up for three summers until USHG won the bid to open a permanent park kiosk. Then the real fun (and lines) started. The "roadside burger joint" started serving incredibly juicy burgers on potato rolls and rich, thick, creamy custards with mix-ins (concretes), and the best Chicago-style hot dog outside the Windy City. It took until 2007 for the Shack to stay open through winter, but it's since become a New York institution — and spread beyond its borders, immediately ranking among those locales best burgers. Menu additions, mash-ups, and location-specific items have followed at newly launched Shacks in New York, Connecticut, Florida, D.C., Philadelphia, the Middle East, and now London. Location specific items at the South Beach Shake Shack include Key Lime Pie Oh My, Shark Attack, and Vice Crispy Treat concretes. — Arthur Bovino, 11/20/2012

  • The offshoot of the same-named NYC Danny Meyer joint, which boasts cult-like acolytes who endure two-hour-plus waits for its burgers.
  • This spot's Madison Square NYC spot boasts 2 hour long lunch lines. Make time for their super delicious meat-bombs like the ShackBurger (single or double, w/ American and their secret pink ShackSauce)
  • Go for the cheese fries!
  • Great burgers and amazing "concretes" - frozen custards - try the specially designed for Miami: Key Lime Pie Oh My!
  • Find cooked-to-order Black Angus burgers, loaded hot dogs, and so-thick-theyre-called-concrete vanilla custard milkshakes. Theres even beer, selected to pair well with burgers, on tap.
  • This place has one of if not the best burger I ever had. Trust me I'm fat!
  • Really hungry? Try the Shack Stack.
  • The delicious burgers you've found in NY have transplanted themselves in Florida. Say it with me, "Burger, Fries, and Custard! Burger, Fries, and Custard!"
  • The single ShackBurger is the greatest burger of all time.
  • Five guys is soooooooo much better.
  • Very tasty burgers. Friendly staff & great atmosphere ! Try their cheese fries, so delicious !
  • La mejor hamburguesa con portobello y queso muenster en Miami
  • Why aren't you closer to me? That's OK, this place is well worth the drive. And that Key Lime Concrete is unreal.
  • We can't get enough of Shake Shack's tasty burgers, yummy cheese fries, and sweet concretes. You can never go wrong with a Shack Burger.
  • Hamburguesas muy ricas!! Y mas para los que nos gusta lo dulce y salado al mismo tiempo.. Sabroso, pero si quiero una buena hamburguesa prefiero five guys..
  • The peanut butter shakes are great but the ordering system is kind of a cluster.
  • If you want to wait an inordinate amount of time for mediocre food, go to shake shack stat.
  • Adicionar bacon aos lanches vai bem. A batata frita recomendo sem o cheddar, pois fica crocante. Alias o cheddar deles no dos melhores por aqui
  • Make sure you grab a seat quickly or may end up eating standing up
  • Watch out for the shark attack, especially if you like chocolate
