Foursquare Tips

  • You must get the Rebel Within, William Werners most famous (or infamous) pastry from his Tell Tale Preserve Co. days--a muffin with a soft-centered egg in the middle:
  • The Rebel Within, a soft boiled egg inside a savory muffin/biscuit is spectacular. The kimchi financier is pretty good too.
  • Great coffee, and great looking pastries, but the brunch offerings were pretty poor IMHO
  • This is what happens when the museum IS the gift shop.
  • Pastry chef William Werner distinguishes himself from the pack with croissants glazed with passion fruit and sesame seeds and semolina cake studded with candied corn nuts.
  • The sipping caramel is the best thing I've put in my mouth. If you like bi-rite salted caramel, you will orgasm over this!
  • Chocolate sourdough bread is chock full of chocolate chips and just $6 / loaf. Great jasmine oolong tea, too.
  • The pastries are delicious and the sipping caramel is out of this world, but be warned- there is no wifi. This is especially problematic because the reception here (for AT&T at least) is really poor.
  • The Rebel Within was interesting but definitely should be served warm.
  • The rebel within is great but it's quite heavy. You won't eat anything else for hours and hours.
  • get 1) the rebel within 2) the devil 3) kimchi loaf 4) any of their fancy patisserie cakes/ pastries in the refrigerated cases. yum.
  • Okay, fine. The pretentious atmosphere is totally justified. Their coffee and pastries are phenomenal.
  • Rebel Within
  • The sipping caramel with salted butter - it's like drinking Magic.
  • The Rebel Within! Make sure to get it warmed up.
  • Back again. This time croissants are spot on get the Thai curry scone, a trip for your taste bud
  • Great spot but busy, so even better if you hit it at the right time to grab a seat and avoid a line! Decided to try the Rebel Within on my first visit, loved it even though the price makes it a treat.
  • The Rebel Within is so good!
  • The Rebel Within. $7 muffin with a soft boiled egg in the middle and bits of sausage and onion.
  • Try the afternoon tea here and sample hipster versions of English classics. Only offered M-F afternoons and requires online reservations.
