Tips

  • Great intimate venue. Bands love playing here, you'll love seeing them here. Just grab your drinks on the way in and stake out your place on the floor. It's going to get crowded.
  • Cults say their Mercury Lounge gig was the scariest show weve ever played, we had been a full band for less than a month. Fun fact: The Strokes & Yeah Yeah Yeahs cut their teeth here too.
  • The small stage, energetic crowd and top-notch indie bookings make Mercury Lounge an anomaly in New York, where indie bands regularly play to thousands. Come smell the bands you love! - IFC Staff
  • good bands!
  • Overpriced and weak drinks. Stick to beer.
  • Overpriced beer. Stick to the PBR.
  • Beer pong !!
  • The front bar can really bottle-neck. Just head straight to the back room, where you can still order drinks!

  • Show up late, set times are always scheduled a half an hour later than the website says they are.
  • Snag a spot on the benches lining the walls, or bop back by the sound booth. Check in, check your email, and pretend your friend is just a block away.
  • great sound. books great bands.... like me!!!!
  • Become a regular to catch acts headed for big things in this awesome, intimate room. RCRD LBL favorites like MNDR and White Rabbits both played some of their first shows here so you know they are up t
  • If a NYC-based band makes it big it's not without playing Mercury Lounge first. Come here any night of the week and you might hear the next Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Strokes or The National.
  • IT'S SO LOUD MUSIC THERE THAT YOU really HAVE TO TAKE EARPLUGS WITH YOU OR YOUR HEARING WILL BE IMPAIRED. WHAT? CAPS LOCK!? SORRY I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
  • The gateway to fame and fortune. Everyone pays their dues at Merc, but not everyone gets a pass to the next level.
  • Never on schedule. Bartenders are assholes. Music is good.
  • One of the better venues in the city. Order a beer (drinks are pricey) in the back from the girl in the corner by the door, that we you don't miss a single note of the show.
  • When the front bar is packed you can order from the tiny bar in the main room. Sometimes it's faster.
  • Super secret tip: there's a bar in the main room!
