He was 30 years old, just moved to the South Bay from San Francisco, married, daughter and rented an apartment in Torrance. LET’S OPEN A PUB!
That’s exactly what Paul Hennessey did on September 23rd, 1976. Back then, a small 600sf dark & dingy location on Pier Avenue Hermosa Beach, now expanded into a dominant 2500sqft roof-top deck, sand view, Hennesey’s Tavern flagship establishment.
And 16 other locations added along the way to boot!
40 years have gone by, still married (44 years to Jennifer Hennessey), now with 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren and let’s just say no longer living in that apartment.
Tuxedos and cocktail dresses will be worn at Hennessey’s Tavern (8 Pier Avenue, Hermosa Beach) Friday, September 23rd to mark the 40th year in the South Bay!
Two live bands:
Hennessey’s Tavern is still independently owned and operated by Paul & Jennifer Hennessey, employing hundreds of South Bay locals! Being around so long, those original employee’s kids are now finding a work home with Hennessey’s Tavern too!
