Grand Opening Boasted Long Lines of Loyal Fans, Delivery Service Also Announced
King of Prussia, PA (RestaurantNews.com) NYC’s famous food cart, The Halal Guys officially opened the first Philadelphia brick-and-mortar location at the Valley Forge Shopping Center in King of Prussia (KOP) on Saturday, October 1st. Loyal fans and eager KOP residents waited in lengthy lines to get the first taste of the popular chicken-and-rice platters, gyro sandwiches and famous white sauce! The line began taking shape more than an hour before the opening at 11 a.m. and it continued to grow throughout the day, often reaching up to a two-hour wait for the American Halal street food that New Yorkers have enjoyed for nearly three decades.
Despite the weekend wait times, once customers get to the counter to order it averages only a few minutes to complete their transaction. The consensus was extremely positive and the fans were in agreement that the brick and mortar location delivered the same flavors as the original food carts in New York. In addition to the hundreds of guests who attended the Grand Opening, Upper Merion Supervisors Carole Kenney and Erika Spott assisted in the ribbon cutting and expressed their excitement about the new addition to the UM Township.
In conjunction with the Grand Opening, the KOP location also announced their partnership with delivery services Zuppler and Grubhub. Fans in neighboring communities up to 5-miles away can now have The Halal Guys gyro sandwiches and chicken-and-rice platters delivered straight to their door.
The King of Prussia location is only the first of several stores to come the Philly Suburbs with operating franchisee, Naveen Mohiuddin. As a KOP resident, Mohiuddin, a long time customer and fan of The Halal Guys, jumped at the opportunity to open a franchise in his backyard, and is thankful for the support of the local community.
The Halal Guys King of Prussia is open Monday through Sunday, 11 a.m to 11 p.m. Fans can stay up to date with The Halal Guys King of Prussia and upcoming Philly Burbs locations on Facebook and Instagram.
About The Halal Guys
The Halal Guys grew from its humble beginnings as a food cart on the streets of New York City to a global icon known as the largest American Halal street food concept in the world. This Manhattan-based landmark was created by three like-minded men from Egypt who came to America in search of a better life. When the founders noticed many cab drivers in New York were looking for a place to buy meals in Manhattan, they created their first food cart and quickly grew into a leading tourist and native New Yorker destination for American Halal fare. In 2013, The Halal Guys were ranked the most popular food truck reviewed on FourSquare and the third most Yelped restaurant in the United States in 2014 with more than 7,600 reviews and a 4.5 average star rating.
