Ecliptic Brewing hosts the Beer Mile Run/Walk on Sunday, May 31st. Portland based brewer/founder John Harris of Ecliptic Brewing is himself a model of beer athleticism, hefting a pint and also barbells and pushing leg presses in a workout area behind Ecliptic’s Walk-in cooler. Registration is now open for the inaugural Ecliptic Beer Mile Run/Walk that starts at Ecliptic Brewing with a beer and ends with another beer and an afterparty.
The one-mile race will feature an out and back course starting and finishing at Ecliptic. Runners will take off from N Cook Street and breeze down Mississippi Avenue with beer slogging in their bellies to the halfway point at N Russell Street. Runners finish the race by returning up the hill on Mississippi Ave to enjoy another brew and stay around for an afterparty complete with live music, brewery tours, and more!
Participants can register today at www.onemilebeerrun.com. All participants will receive an official race t-shirt and two free Ecliptic beers (for all participants 21 years of age with valid ID). With a capacity of only 750 runners, the race is expected to sell out quickly. There is a price increase on February 1, so make sure to sign up this week.
John Harris, the mastermind behind Ecliptic Brewing, is thrilled for the inaugural event: “I am so excited to be part of this new epic running event here in Portland. Running has never been more fun.” Carrie Conway, Operations Director of CK Running, LLC, also echoes Harris’ excitement: “As a recent transplant to Pacific NW I am thrilled to be a part of bringing this event to Portland. We chose one if the best breweries in the city for a reason and can’t wait for race day!”
The race will be partnering with the Oregon Food Bank as the official charitable partner. The event will be collecting canned food donations at packet pickup and on race day. All participants are asked to bring along at least one canned food item to the event.
