Tips

  • Chateau Montelena caused a sensation when their 1976 Chardonnay put California wines on the map and beat French wines to take top honors at a Paris blind tasting.
  • Get your hands on the 1997 Merlot, the only year they ever made a Merlot. Rare and simply one of the best.
  • Stunning. Great wine. Just go
  • The tasting staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Can't wait to go back and take the tour.
  • Of course you will try the Chardonnay! www.grubcrawl.com
  • Wine is good, but the draw is the beautiful landscape and the sommeliers are so helpful and informative!
  • Spend some time and relax while strolling around Jade Lake.
  • Beautiful estate - great spot for a first visit to Napa. Reserve a picnic area for a scenic/relaxing afternoon.
  • Beautiful location and amazing wine! Didn't know about the movie, Bottleshock, before I came but worth the visit. Also part of the Passport tour, so worth getting and pays for itself after 2 wineries.
  • Great story and if u sneak to the back room, even if they say it's full, check to make sure and then u can read more about their history&see cool pics. Julia&Kevin like this room, as u can see!
  • Apesar de aclamado pela crtica e ter sido histria de filme no achei q valeu a visita. No trocaram os copos durante o tasting (pago). V ao R Mondavi. Tour e tasting mto melhor.
  • The tasting staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We will be back.
  • We had a fantastic wine tasting with Sean, who truly knows this wine and the entire region's. We whole-heatedly recommend a trip to Chateau Montelena for its delicious wine and knowledgable service.
  • The place that put Napa on the map in the France v. Napa challenge of 76. The movie Bottleshock is based on the event but fictional, nice tasting room beautiful grounds.
  • Not a fan. Disappointed. Much better wines at less costs throughout the valley.
  • Try the Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, it's delicious!
  • Absolutely one of my favorites. Gorgeous grounds, amazing wine and helpful staff.
  • The wine history is great but they are doing some great wines at great prices. Try the zin. Also the aged Chardonnay really.
  • Wines are fine but the prices are inflated. There are many, many equally fine wines and wineries in CA without the steep tasting fees and $50+ per bottle.
  • Os melhores vinhos que tomei em Napa, em especial o Montelena Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2013; Calistoga Zinfandel 2014 e Potter Valley Riesling 2016!
