Foursquare Tips

  • Amazing full red snapper, goat cheese, pepper and chipotle tamales and oxtail quesadilla. Don't forget the abuelita hot chocolate!
  • We had a lovely meal here, following the footsteps of Bourdain. We sat at the bar and let the barman be our guide. No regrets.
  • Great food, service, and margaritas. Not your typical Mexican, highly recommend! Heres a great pic of my friends with one of our amazing dishes we ordered.
  • Chicharron was absolutely amazing!
  • Fun date spot, excellent food
  • Chicharron!!Actually had chance to try everything on menu but chicharron really stuck w me. Food is very much worth the $ but service is very questionable. Do l need to order speaking broken spanish??
  • Superb, modern take on Mexican food. Chef Ray Garcia is taking the cuisine, presentation and service to the next level.
  • Happy hour is an ideal time to go, otherwise you're paying $13 for a margarita - yikes. Great drinks, food on the HH menu - hit or miss. Hit: beet tostada. Miss: chicken necks.
  • Such a great happy hour! Margarita, Oaxacan Old Fashioned and Rabbit Abondigas.
  • Chef Ray Garcia is doing something truly special here by introducing a modern take on the cuisine of his heritage to the world to enjoy.
  • The tamale was really good
  • Excellent food but their tamales are the star.
  • Tortillas with Lentils were amazing. The red snapper was extraordinary, but ask them to filet it for you.
  • The magic this place makes on your taste buds. Get the lamb beck tamales, chicharron, and duck mole. I'd skip the oxtail quesadillas and whipped carnitas fat (sounds better than they taste).
  • The stuffed chili is great.
  • Upscale Mexican restaurant.. Most of the dishes have a modern twist. Over all I like it!
  • Pricey but show this picture and get that dish. So unique and awesome.
  • With creative takes on Mexican-American cuisine, plus a killer evening ambiance, Broken Spanish is the grown up restaurant Downtown LA desperately needed.
  • Catch Hora Especial for small bites and cocktails weekdays 5:30-7 at the bar and corral.
  • From botanas, to entradas to platos principales, this restaurant will have you going absolutely bananas.
