Tips

  • Sunday mornings read your paper over coffee, then (in season) browse the farmers' market
  • Hipster-friendly. Reminded me of the cafes in Berkeley.
  • The friendly staff always remember the regulars, and even put together a Valentine's Day playlist that ended up with the entire cafe singing Seasons of Love together.
  • Huge bears
  • The customers are insufferable.
  • The tiny sidewalk patiowith umbrella-covered tables against an ivy-covered wallis an excellent place to linger over Big Bear's sustainable coffee.
  • Very confusing ordering system, unnecessary. Average food, store-bought bagel. Paying for hipster atmosphere rather than food quality.
  • Service is terrible, totally unfriendly and cold cashiers taking your order
  • No chai? Really? That's a fail.
  • Bitches Say A! Super chill, great quality coffee and breakfast spot. Not the place for a massive group brunch, but stop by with a friend for a quick bite.
  • Now has a nice beer list!
  • Great coffee and pastries, but somewhat pricey. Impossible to get a seat in winter and inclement weather.
  • Good deal going on right now with $2 home made chips and $3 hot cider!
  • Lattes aside (and they are really good), the chicken mozzarella pesto sandwich is the cafe's secret piece of delicious.
  • Go the cafe on Sundays for the farmers market. Get a cappuccino in a to-go cup and wander the vendors. At lunch, head into cafe and order a chicken pesto sandwich.
  • My life is incomplete without a coffeeshop near home. Big Bear is that and also happens to be amazing. Great coffee, atmosphere, people.
  • I live across the street from this place 2007-12, and I stop going when I was asked by a barista "why do you need 2 cups of coffee"...Great food, shitty counter folk.
  • Don't eat the grapes off the grapevine outside
  • I love the location, atmosphere and food here but for some reason about half the time the employees are dicks inexplicably. The bar tenders are awesome - above and beyond - but the day crew sucks.
  • My experience here was miserable. I was so annoyed that I was paying so much for bad food & bad service. I was genuinely happy to leave.
