Foursquare Tips

  • On June 15, $42 scores spiced blue crabs, sides like buttery taters, beans, corn, & seasonal fruit cobbler. Beer isnt included but towels are, so grab one & get in there before tickets sell out.
  • Go to Back Forty and drink the Ginger Bourbon Back Forty Cocktails and order a grass-fed burger.
  • Entrees can be pricey and miss the mark, but small plates here are always a hit, and half price drinks during happy hour make it an ideal spot for dinner at the bar.
  • Every wonder about the name? In the 1800s, a "quarter-section" farmer would own two "front 40s" & two "back 40s" of land (as in "40 acres" x 4 = 160 acres/farmer x 4 farmers = 640 acres = 1sq mile)
  • The house drink - the Back Forty - is awesome.
  • Better drink spot than dinner spot. Be prepared to pay $$$ for an average meal
  • Pork Jowl Nuggets!
  • Dont miss the weekly Crab Boil Games every Tuesday night - an entire evening to cracking, licking and sucking the delicious flavors out of Blue Claw Crabs.
  • Please, in the name of God, if they have the fresh doughnuts with maple and bacon glaze order them. Your life will forever change.
  • Happy hour. Eat at the bar.
  • The Grass-Fed burger is supposed to be one of the best burgers in New York City. I concur.
  • The grass-fed burger on an Orwasher potato roll with heritage bacon and Cabot cheddar is a winner for chef Eduard Frauneder.
  • Crab boils take place every Tuesday night. They dump a mountain of spiced crabs onto newspaper wrapped tables with side dishes. Wash it down with pitchers of beer. Summer fruit cobblers for dessert.
  • The burger is just OK. The fried poached egg sandwich is unusual and tasty, and the cookies are really good, as is the house loaf.
  • 1/2 price drinks and $3 sliders on Mondays. What more can you ask for?
  • Go to Back 40 on a sunny day and sit in the back patio. Combined with the food and beer, it feels like you are grilling out - but better. When available, I get the appetizer with the honey comb
  • Chicken & Waffles is probably their best dish
  • Pork. Jowels.
  • Brunch is good, not great. Drinks are better. Sorta pricey for what it is. Still don't understand the love fest this place always gets.
  • They have great brunch here! And great coffee.
