Monday was the ground-breaking ceremony for Orlando’s newest complex, Westgate Lakes Retail Village. The new entertainment destination at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa plans to offer two new restaurants, a bowling alley, grocery store, meeting rooms and a variety of retail shops by late 2015.
The area is already known for its horseback riding, golf, swimming, boating, fishing and recreational sports, but the new $11 million complex will offer premium dining and shopping to guests of the Floridian resort. “We're excited about bringing high-quality entertainment, dining and meeting options to our Westgate guests and Central Florida visitors,” said David Siegel, CEO of Westgate Resorts. “The Westgate Lakes Retail Village will also create many new jobs and contribute to the economic development of Central Florida."
The pièce de résistance of the new complex will be Edge Steakhouse, which has already had an amazing run at the Westgate Resort, Utah timeshare, winning multiple awards from big names like OpenTable and TripAdvisor. In Orlando, guests will have an 80-foot-high view of the city while dining on American Kobe beef sashimi, lobster and black truffle risotto, and other twists on steakhouse favorites. These creative in-house designed dishes can be paired with the restaurant’s extensive wine collection as they will be housing over 1,000 unique bottles from six continents.
