As executive chef and owner of Equus & Jack’s Lounge and Corbett’s: An American Place, Dean Corbett has been a primary fixture in the Louisville dining scene since working at the legendary Casa Grisanti in 1982. From there, he built his own restaurant group beginning with Equus in 1995 and then Jack’s Lounge in 2000, which received a “Best of Louisville” award 3 years in a row by Louisville Magazine. In 2008, he opened Corbett’s: An American Place, which was named as one of Esquire’s “Best New Restaurants.” Corbett has continued to gain national attention with appearances on NBC’s Today Show and The Cooking Channel’s Food(ography) and in such publications as Wine Spectator, Southern Living and Garden & Gun. Chef Corbett has won numerous awards for his culinary excellence and community service including being inducted into the Honorable Order of the Golden Toque. He has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Kentucky Restaurant Association; received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the Catholic Education Foundation in 2010; and has cooked at the James Beard House four times. Corbett is also actively involved in supporting several charitable organizations, including Kosair Children’s Hospital, Gilda’s Club and Dare to Care. Chef Corbett has co-hosted his own TV show, Secrets of Louisville Chefs and is currently the creator and co-host of The ChefBoyArDean Show on Talk Radio WKJK weekly.
