Tips

  • Go with your lover, one of you wait in the long line while the other person shops. If you don't have a lover, shop and then wait in line and cry quietly to yourself.
  • If you can't handle the chaos of shopping at Trader Joe's at Union Square, you don't belong in New York City.
  • come on rainy days, it's like the rain washes the line away!
  • Go with time, accept the wait, be patient, sociable, and kind towards the people around you. Trust me, you'll be happier & so will the people in line with you!
  • Make a meme while in line.
  • The original Manhattan TJ's opened with lines around the block almost five years ago. Their newest location opens on Broadway and 72nd Street September 20!
  • The experienced shoppers know to select items while in either store-wrapped line.
  • Go with a friend. Upon entry one gets in the line, the other shops. Meet at end of line. Only way to fly
  • Go before 2pm or after 8:30pm Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday for best experience.
  • Trader Joes is no ordinary grocery chain. It stocks its shelves with a winning combination of low-cost staples and exotic, affordable luxuries that you simply cant find anyplace else.
  • Cut you some flax. Try adding flaxseed or its oil to your meals. Trader's has it golden roasted, milled, whole, in cereal, in oatmeal. The health benefits are plentiful and the taste is yummy.
  • Confirmed by an employee: Monday night is the busiest time to shop.
  • Give people space. Don't continuously ram your cart into someone's heels. You're not going anywhere.
  • Start with pasta & frozen foods, then get nuts, snacks, and produce, start waiting in line and grab meats & cheese, hummus, and finally eggs & dairy while on line = efficient TJ's shopping.
  • Go with a friend, take turns holding the spot on line while the other shops. The line almost always rounds the whole store.
  • Less a supermarket than a queue with food wrapped around it.
  • Don't come here between 5pm and 7pm on a weekday. Ever.
  • if you don't have a day job or work hours that are NOT 9-5, try going in to TJ's at 11 am or 2 pm. WAY less crowded and shopping is actually pleasurable.
  • Relax, the lines move fast :)
  • Always too packed and sold out of what i came in to get
