Since 2009, this charming Denver restaurant (which got its start in Highlands but moved to Lower Downtown in 2012) has been serving some of the city’s most fun and inventive cuisine.

With a full bar area, open kitchen, and spacious dining room, the restaurant is a great place to spend an evening. The menu is constantly changing depending on what’s fresh and in-season, but it’s always creatively designed. For example, appetizers may include pastrami octopus, twice-fried chicken wings with maple Szechuan hot sauce, and entrées can include fried half-chicken with buttermilk, blackberry, and succotash; osso bucco vindaloo-style lamb; crispy whole snapper; or spaghetti with shrimp, squid ink, egg yolk, and chili breadcrumbs.

Owners Johnny Ballen and Josh Olsen don’t just source seasonal produce; they grow much of it on a “humble but bountiful farm plot” called Bean Acres, and they also grow much of the herbs they use on six raised beds called the Squeaky Beds. Fun, fresh, and seasonal — what’s not to like?
