  • Austin's oldest outdoor biergarten and dining hall was built by German immigrant August Scholz in 1866. They still serve some German dishes alongside nachos, and burgers to a largely politico crowd.
  • Geeks who drink every Monday at 8pm! Prizes! Trivia! FREE BEER! Also, it's free!!!!!! FREEEEE! OMGBBQGIGGLEFART!

  • Scholz bills itself as the oldest bar in Texas - they've been serving politicos, college students and other faithful lovers of their German biergarten food for well over 100 years. [Eater 38 Member]
  • Great fans, cold beer and fast food and a excellent place to enjoy a Longhorn game on tv
  • Bavarian pretzel is delish and perfect with beer.
  • Try the 512 IPA. Great local beer!
  • Crowded when events are going on
  • German potato salad
  • Best pregame spot for longhorn football. 24 oz beer cans... Love it
  • Go by Scholz's for unique and authentic German beers on tap
  • Super charming BierGarten where fixtures were imported from Germany in the 1880s. Had the pretzel. Didnt have anything else and it was divine.
  • The brat I got was absolutely flavorless. But I do recommend the giant soft pretzel.
  • Outstanding bier and atmosphere. Austoberfest was a blast. Looking forward to bowling lanes opening back up.
  • The brisket is meh.
  • The giant pretzel is a great way to start your meal and the brats and German potato salad should not be missed.
  • Ordered a beer, waiter never came back to get out food order. So, after 30 mins of waiting, we got up and left without paying. This place is always understaffed.
  • The beer selection here is great, and the food is pretty salty but definitely filling.
  • The schnitzel is just ok. The service was just ok. The environment is just ok. That said the beer is great and it's an institution.
  • Favorite go-to for a great beer, lunch or appetizer.
