Tips

  • Things that fit inside the new exhibit, its largest ever: Two full-size houses, authentic tobacco & textile mill faades, multiple tractors and a scale replica of the Wright brothers flying machine.
  • This Smithsonian Affiliate includes the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame and associated memorabilia. Notable inductees include Richard Petty, Arnold Palmer and Michael Jordan. (From Aerial America)
  • Smaller than the museum of natural science across the street but also very interesting. Oh, and did I mention it's free?
  • The museum made history fun. Very interactive and allows children to touch and become interested. My daughter loved enlisting in WW1 and getting her picture taken.
  • Excellent display of history. Is free. You can take pictures.
  • Too bad they don't offer group travel opportunities for their members.
  • Visit the gift shop. A great place to find cookbooks of ZNC recipes.
  • Unique jewelry at the museum gift store - affordable, too.
  • Get your learn on.
  • An excellent history museum in Downtown Raleigh.
  • You need to see 'The day hell broke loose' it I the beginning of the Jim Crow laws.
  • Great place to go on a hot day! Its free and you learn stuff too!
  • I'd recommend coming earlier in the day if you wish to view plenty of exhibits before they close.
  • World War 1 Exhibit
  • Wonderful exhibits about our state and how our executive system works. Also, they have a fun christmas party for families!
  • Great free museum if you like American history. Close parking is available and the displays are interactive.
  • The world war 2 exhibit was cool
  • Check out the Call to Arms section at the NC Museum of History. Our own has served too! This section honors them.
  • Good museum, free admission!
  • Great fun museum to visit. Always a great couple hours.
