‘Cake Boss’ Buddy Valastro Arrested for DWI
The Cake Boss may be on top of his game when it comes to fondant, but not when it comes to safe driving. Buddy Valastro was arrested in Manhattan early Thursday morning and charged with a DWI and DWAI, according to People Magazine.
Officers observed the Carlo’s Bakery owner driving a yellow 2014 Corvette erratically and swerving between lanes. Police stopped Valastro at a stoplight on 10th Avenue near Hudson Yards. After smelling alcohol on his breath, police gave him a sobriety test, which he failed. Valastro was brought downtown for arraignment and remained in custody as late as Thursday morning.
Valastro is well-known as not only the proprietor of Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, New Jersey, but also as the star of Cake Boss, which has also given way to various spin-offs including Next Great Baker. Numerous franchises based on Valastro’s show have also opened, including Cake Boss Café in Times Square.
The Daily Meal has reached out to Valastro for comment, but has not yet received a response.
