  • This is the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere. The Henry Crown Space Center features rockets, shuttles, satellites, rovers and probes. You can even see the actual Apollo 8 spacecraft!
  • The U-505 is a Type IXC U-boat built by Deutsche Werft AG, Hamburg in 1941. Captured on 4 June 44 by USN Task Force 22.3. Donated to the Museum in 1954 and moved to it's present location in 2004.

  • This museums largest exhibit is also its most impressive. In its time, this steel monster was one of the deadliest war machines ever created. It is a U-boat, known by its infamous number 505.

  • One of the main reasons I love this museum is because it is interactive. There is just so much to see and explore because the museum is so huge. Also, they have free demonstrations that are available.

  • Parking is pricey but covered and convenient. Coal mine and U505 submarine exhibits are standouts. Idea City great for young kids/infants for interactive displays. Museum improvements are very nice!

  • Purchasing a membership is definitely worth it here! Touring the whole museum in one day is quite a feat, especially if you have kids in tow...they also reciprocate with a number of other museums!
