  • Can't beat the pork belly confit banh mi and stunning views over Elliot Bay/Pike Place Market.
  • The quality of food has not flagged since founder Matt Janke sold the restaurant to Dan Bugge and Chester Gerl took over the kitchen. [Eater 38 Member]
  • Long before the eat-local mantra, we had Matt's, whose dinner menu was based on whatever Matt Janke found downstairs at the stalls near Pike Place. Happy hour offers a good entree sampling. 5-7pm
  • Matt's in the Market is a go-to spot for both tourists and creative edibles, as evidenced by their recent deployment of this frozen, pureed take on traditional kimchi.
  • Octopus is great. Sitting at the bar is just fine.
  • Want to impress your out-of-town guests? This is one of your best bets!
  • Sit at the bar without a reservation. Order fancy drinks. Have a deep conversation with your date.
  • The soft shell crab sandwich is fantastic. Do NOT agree to share with anyone in your party!
  • Wow. I think I had the best seat in the house. Right near the market sign. Also their bread pudding is amazing! Save room for it
  • When you're looking at drinks, try the French cider, especially if you're ordering a pork meal. It goes great!
  • As a starter, my @pandafoodie recommends the Penn Cove oysters. Yum!
  • Please, please try the pistachio / Makers Mark ice cream....amazing....
  • I've heard the Catfish Sandwich is the truth. I can vouch for the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Delish.
  • Highly recommend making a reservation, even for lunch. Daily specials are on point as is the selection of local wines and oysters. Try the deviled eggs. I will definitely be back for the Cobb salad.
  • Octopus appetizer and seafood stew were both sublime. Service was impeccable, and their Somm really went above and beyond. Finally... the view. Hard to beat!
  • Great food, drinks and atmosphere. You can enjoy a view of the market if you get a table in the window. It's a busy place so if you want to get a table book it.Otherwise just enjoy your food at the bar
  • Get the deviled eggs. Catfish sandwich is yummy.
  • The Banh Mi with pork belly is to die for. Was surprised at the delicious water buffalo pastrami
  • great service; we weren't rushed. if you're having trouble finding, find this sign, stand where you think photographer would--then turn right.
  • Get the seafood stew! It's closer to Thai green curry and is an impressive pile of deliciousness.
