Foursquare Tips

  • For a refined version of classic Americana, dip into the mac & cheese featuring farmstead white cheddar & smoked bacon or the grilled flatiron steak with a shallot and whole-grain mustard marmalade.
  • How much fried fish can one person eat? Find out at the All-You-Can-Eat Atlantic Pollack Fish Fry ($20), Fridays through Apr 6, when the kitchen prepares an unseemly amount of Bells Alebattered fish
  • Make sure to ask Executive Chef Scott Walton what is fresh from his rooftop garden!
  • Give credit where credit is due. Markethouse restaurant has a tag line that reads "From the Heartland," and it does its best to live up to those words.
  • Best.service.ever! Loved our waiter. <3 1/2 priced martinis and appetizers on Wednesday!
  • The Guinness Grilled Cheese is only available on the "30 Minute Executive Lunch" menu, but you don't need to be one to enjoy short ribs braised in Guinness and loaded with melted cheddar.
  • Three words: Lobster Truffle Pappardelle.
  • Amazing bread pudding!
  • You dont get any better than this restaurant!!
  • The Beer-battered Fish was really delicious. Surprisingly different in it's complexity for something that is usually so straight forward. I was craving it days later.
  • Pork Shank & Lamb are to die for! Don't get the risotto, it was very underdone. Overall excellent meal! Will come back
  • Have the bread pudding and thank me later.
  • Markethouse starts dinner with bread and a 12-ounce jar of its housemade bread-and-butter pickles, which the chef makes in 40-pound batches each week.
  • Ask for Enrica to serve you! He is so sweet, polite & knowledgeable! Oh and Kudos to the chef! You're awesome too! So was the hostess! We will def. Be back!!!!!
  • Order the Meatloaf & the Mac and cheese! They have a rooftop veg & herb garden! They serve & support local food business owners! Fresh! Aask for Andy! He knows so much about Chicago! Great ambiance!
  • If you have not had their mac & cheese, you're missing something. It's to die for!
  • Their Thanksgiving menu was great, we spend very nice evening there.
  • Try the grilled chicken salad...still delicious
  • The bread pudding is out of this world good. Must have!!
  • If staying at the Doubletree, ask for the 2012 package which includes a $20 discount for food at Markethouse or any of their bars.
