BK’s Classic Cheeseburger; Zagat’s Top 30

A round of applause for Burger King, please. I’ve continually criticized it for its endless variations on its Whopper (Angry and otherwise) and gimmicky brand extensions like Cheetos Chicken Fries. But now the chain has stepped up with a cheeseburger-lover’s bacon cheeseburger with no frills or silliness.

The new $5.99 Bacon King burger is two ¼-lb. flame-grilled beef patties with thick-cut smoked bacon, melted American cheese ketchup and mayo on a sesame seed bun. That’s it! Bless them, that’s it. A straightforward, in-your-mouth bacon cheeseburger without sriracha or Cheetos or taco chips or pineapple or anything else unnecessary.

Just a bacon cheeseburger. Bravo.
