Potatoes au Gratin
Here's a basic, no-frills version that's a snap to prepare. We suggest freshly grated Gruyère or Parmesan, but any sharp cheese will do nicely. Serve this with roasted meats, fish, or poultry as well as egg dishes as a rich and hearty side dish. See all casserole recipes.

Sweet potatoes meet cream, thyme, gruyere and parmesan. Rich and unctuous, this is a special occasion side dish. Adapted from a recipe published by Caroline Russock at Serious Eats (originally from Lyniece North Talmadge's _The Sweet Potato Lover's Cookbook_). http://bit.ly/as09y0

I couldn't decide for Rosemary potatoes or Au Gratin ones so I mashed the recipies together and viola! This came out creamy smoothe with a nice herby finish, the gruyere cheese certainly makes this a keeper too. The top cooks up lovely and bubbly and this dish would look amazing on any holiday table. If you do not have the fresh herbs on hand I would think dry would do just fine.

I saw a recipe for potatoes au gratin on the local news and decided to adapt it using three kinds of potatoes: Yukon Gold, blue, and sweet. It's quite colorful and tasty. The contrast of the earthy blue potatoes and the sweet potatoes is heavenly.

These are a very cheesy Au Gratin potatoes. This is the way my mother-in-law made them. I've made them this way for 55 years. We really don't have a recipe. We just make them. It is easy to do in large the amount.
