Tips

  • Green Door Chile with lots of hot sauce washed down with a tall hum & soda will cure the common cold.
  • I don't know first hand but I hear the urinals are extremely tall. Best used by those 5' 9" or taller.
  • Yeah, it's ok.
  • $2 Wing Baskets on Sundays!
  • Massive portions (I'm British). Try the pork chop. It's huge.
  • Grab a beer and wonder how those leaning walls given way yet.
  • Give Julius (aka juicy j) a hug when you walk in the door. He's the most lovable doorman!
  • Take your jacket off before you hit the pisser! Heaters on blast!
  • Check out the Green Door Tavern's history in this short video http://www.drunkenhistory.com/green-door-tavern-chicago
  • Stop in and try what is arguably the best Corned Beef Sandwich known to man. Wash it down with a Moscow Mule or our personal favorite the French 75, which was named after the 75mm howitzer!!!
  • Come for the great, historic feel!
  • Bathrooms are downstairs.
  • Play pool in the back.
  • Great food and drinks
  • Portobello fries = yum.
  • Dive bars are sorely lacking in my life.
  • Classic feel; comfort food
  • Head straight downstairs to the speakeasy - The Drifter to book a table. Then head back to the bar for a drink or so before youre called to your table in the secret room.
  • Typical Chicago pub.
  • Chicago's oldest tavern (est 1921). Fun, eclectic, lots of craft beers and good drinks, food is delicious and you'll feel like you've stepped back in time. Cheers!
