Foursquare Tips

  • Every meal's been a good one. And it's within walking distance.
  • They burn kerosine on each table, for candles. It is so much, this place reeks of kerosine. It is a health hazard.
  • I love a good suburban gem. Scallops are a must.
  • Paul Virant's cooking has become a lot more exciting since the last time I've been here, and the portions have increased. The pork belly dish I got was so, so good.
  • Bill Anderson has crafted a cocktail program at Vie that, like the restaurant, is one that is unjustly overlooked by Chicago diners (I'm looking at you, Michelin man).
  • Adults can enjoy Chef Paul Virant's farm-to-table menu (while also enjoying cocktails created by Bill Anderson). Children can enjoy kid-friendly dinners (chicken tenders and grilled cheese).
  • This is definitely worth the drive or train ride out there. Take the metra, three station is across the street.
  • Game over. Best burger I've ever had. Better than Burger Joint, Corner Bistro, JG Melon, even Luger's, which comes closest. And it's from Western Springs, Illinois.
  • Vie really makes everything, from its bread to its pickles & preserves! It just goes to show you that CIA grads -- including Chef/Owner Paul Virant -- really learn how to get around in the kitchen!
  • Ask for Pablo as your waiter.
  • U hav 2 try the wood grilled beef loin u dnt hav 2 eat it all cuz its big or try the Texas redfish and do NOT try the foie gras it's like gooey and a weird texture but u might like it if ur an adult
  • Every Sunday, chef Paul Virant (a 2007 best new chef) prepares a highly popular three-course family dinner where children 11 and under cost as much as their age (i.e., $3 for a 3-year-old).
  • Came here during Chicago chef week. Really nice, quiet ambiance. Great service and definitely a neighborhood gem! The place is so randomly placed by a train station though?
  • Sunday suppers are a time for families to come together. Have a large brood? Children under 11 pay their age. - Inspector
  • Came here during chef week. Great pre fixe menu! Absolutely love the food-wine pairing. Neighborhood gem, indeed.
  • The burger is amazing. Try as an appetizer for more options
  • order the coffee ice cream dessert (call 1 day ahead as it's not on the menu); if you love coffee, you'll love this dessert
  • gotta try their Manhattan
