Toppers Pizza Challenges Corporate Pizza Chains to “Presidential Pizza Debate”
Founder & President Scott Gittrich Calls Out Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Papa John’s to Debate on the State of Pizza
Whitewater, WI (RestaurantNews.com) As Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump continue their series of three debates on issues related to the direction of the country, national defense, immigration and economic issues, Scott Gittrich, the founder and president of Toppers Pizza, wants to talk about an issue of national importance with bipartisan support: pizza. Gittrich feels that the corporate pizza chains have let the American people down. As a result, Gittrich is calling out Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Papa John’s and challenging them to a debate in Toppers Pizza’s hometown of Whitewater, Wisconsin. Those in support of the 2016 Presidential Pizza Debate can sign the petition here.
“For far too long, the corporate chains have taken advantage of the men and women across the U.S., disrespecting the great American institution of pizza. It’s time that they answer for their actions,” said Gittrich. “I’m challenging representatives from the chains that hold the largest portion of the pizza industry pie, that also offer the lowest level of quality. It’s time that we make pizza great again.”
Toppers Pizza has remained committed to providing the very best pizza experience to its fanatics ever since Gittrich opened the first Toppers in Whitewater 25 years ago. His goal at the time was to change the landscape of the competitive pizza industry and to instill a greater respect for pizza in an industry that had already started to dilute its very definition.
In order to discuss the state of the pizza industry and debate on the issues impacting pizza’s prominence in years to come, Gittrich proposes a debate to explore “The Direction of the Pizza Industry,” “Achieving Quality,” and “Securing Value.” Similar to the Presidential debates, Gittrich calls for a 90-minute debate with equal time for all participants to discuss their thoughts and opinions on the pizza industry. All proceeds from ticket sales and donations in support of the 2016 Presidential Pizza Debate will go to Feeding America, the nationwide network of 200 food banks that leads the fight against hunger in the United States. Over the past four years, Toppers has collectively donated 2.75 million meals for Feeding America. Additionally, for every signature to the 2016 Presidential Pizza Debate petition, Toppers Pizza will donate one meal to Feeding America (up to 10,000 meals) for those in need across the country.
“This generation was raised on pizza, and the corporate chains are disrespecting that great American heritage,” said Gittrich. “I’m calling out Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut and Papa John’s to debate the topics that matter most to the pizza-loving American people. If you have even an ounce of pizza pride, you’ll answer my challenge and meet me in the name of recapturing the greatness of pizza for our children and the next generation.”
