  • Love the ribs on Saturday. The brisket can be amazingly succulent. A huge selection of beers on tap that change with the seasons. The chocolate cake can be skipped. Best place on JI. Old Charlestonian

  • Artichoke dip is GREAT & flavorful! The okra is light & crispy. All 8 of us, ranging in age from 6 - 63 are happily stuffed with our choices; from pulled pork, ribs, brisket, to soup!
  • Pork BBQ, and black mamba (guinness and pear cider). Delish...
  • Onion rings the size of doughnuts.
  • Play adult trivia on thursday with Rawberry Jam
  • Don't get the Mac and cheese. They have changed their recipe and it's not any good. The BBQ is good though - and the fried okra is possibly the best in town!
  • Get the stuffed Jalapenos!
  • Get a flight of four beers for $10!
  • The Smoky Oak is the best place to get beer & bbq on James Island. I have never met a person that didn't love going to the Smoky Oak! Highly recommend.
  • Their sauces are very good. The meat and sausages are Smokey but without a lot of flavor. No dry rub or seasoning. That may be the south Carolinians way. Slaw was not flavorful but the dirty rice was
  • Have never been disappointed with anything I've ordered. It's a unique little place.
