Tom Perini's steakhouse, in a converted barn on his family's ranch just outside Abilene, is famed for its 22-ounce "cowboy rib-eye" and other heroic slabs of good Texas beef, but burger lovers swear by the establishment's grilled half-pound burger, laden with Cheddar or provolone, grilled mushrooms, green chiles, and onions. — Colman Andrews

Foursquare Tips

  • One of my favorite restaurants! Tom and his team give their guests delicious food, friendly and excellent service in a unique dining environment. Sit on the patio--it's the best seat in the house!
  • You can't beat a Perini's ribeye. But the best way to enjoy it is to ask for it to be "peppered". Un. Be. LIEVABLE! And...get the zucchini.
  • Amazing filet! Melts in your mouth.
  • Great prime rib.
  • Steaks are out of control, but get the green chile hominy if it's the last thing you do.
  • Went for the Ranch Burger which was great. I loved their salted herb butter and chocolate cake.
  • Prime rib is the best with a side of hominy... Delish!
  • Hominy with peppers and bacon
  • Best burger I've ever had. Hands down. Without a doubt.
  • Get the hominy!!! The chopped salad is amazing. My kids loved the fried catfish.
  • Reservations are helpful & sometimes the only way! Steaks, sides, catfish, jalapeo bites, bread pudding.
  • Out side dining is quite comfortable after sunset
  • Bah. Server told me to try their Sunday lunch and I was not impressed. I guess being from the south I should not have expected it to be great.
  • Ranch Burger
  • Note: Burger
  • Food & Wine recommends the Ranch Burger, topped with mushrooms, onions, green chiles, and choice of cheddar or provolone.
  • the bread pudding is so delicious
  • Truly a laid back atmosphere, scrumptious quail legs, raving green chili hominy, melt in your mouth prime rib, and a perfect ending w bread pudding and a bottle of Caymus Vinyards Cab sauvignon. OMG
  • One of Texas Gov. Rick Perry's favorite indulgences is a juicy ribeye from Perini Ranch!
