Sweet Rose Creamery, the artisanal ice cream shop in Los Angeles from James Beard Award nominee Zoe Nathan and Josh Loeb (Huckleberry, Rustic Canyon) has partnered with Tortoise General Store, the Venice-based Japanese housewares shop, for a monthly pop-up series that will highlight Japanese artisans.
Beginning Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22, and held every fourth Sunday until September 27 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tortoise General Store will feature artisanal ice creams from Sweet Rose, including classic and Japanese-inspired flavors like kinkan (candied kumquat) and hōjicha (bancha leaf green tea).
Shiho Yoshikawa, Sweet Rose Creamery’s co-owner and executive chef, will also offer her house-made almond milk for sale at the pop-up. Tortoise General Store has also partnered with local coffee roaster Arata Doyashiki, whose parents were roasters in her native Tokyo, to develop exclusive blends for the boutique and offer coffee drinks for pop-up guests.
Sweet Rose Creamery’s pop-up at Tortoise General Store will open on Saturday, March 21 at 1 p.m.
