Danny Meyer And Ina Garten Made The Time 100 Most Influential People Of 2015

Danny Meyer is probably best-known for bringing Shake Shack to America. But he's also one of the most successful restaurateurs out there who has never called himself a chef. Ina Garten's Barefoot Contessa books are found in almost every home cook's kitchen. Time Magazine chose Danny Meyer as one of this year's Time 100 honorees in the Titans category, and Ina Garten was chosen as one of the Time 100 Icons. In years past, Ferran Adrià and José Andrés also made the Time 100 list.

Chef Tom Colicchio, another one of New York City's culinary icons, wrote Danny Meyer's descriptive blurb in this week's issue of Time. He said, "As Danny's business has grown, from a single restaurant to a nearly $2 billion Shake Shack burger empire with outlets around the world, its core has never changed. It's what has made him a leader in our industry. I'm proud to have been his partner and still proud to be his friend." Meyer is in good company, too. Other titans on the list include Kanye West, Apple's CEO Tim Cook, Charles and David Koch, Kim Kardashian, Disney CEO Bob Iger, and YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki.

Meyer is joined by another food icon, Ina Garten. Garten, best known as the Barefoot Contessa, has always been one of the best-known cookbook authors and TV personalities who caters her recipes toward home cooks. Other icons on the list this year are Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Taylor Swift, and Pope Francis. As Taylor Swift lovingly writes in her blurb on Garten, "Her goal is to make things easier for us. Fans love her warmth and generosity. She shows us how to create memories that we'll treasure for years to come. For that, we will always cherish the merry and magnificent Ina Garten."
