Laurelwood releases Organic Portland Roasting Espresso Stout

Laurelwood’s Espresso Stout, one of the very best coffee beers, is back for it’s seasonal run in a slightly tweaked form from Laurelwood Brewing’s new Head Brewer Shane Watterson. It’s almost surprising there are not more local coffee beers in a city famous for both, luckily we do have the 2nd annual NW Coffee Beer Invitational next weekend. As usual Laurelwood Brewing Co. has teamed up with the experts at Portland Roasting for this collaboration Organic Portland Roasting Espresso Stout.

This isn’t the first time the brewery and coffee crew have joined forces. Laurelwood’s Organic Espresso Stout is a yearly favorite. “Every fall the brew staff looks foreword to picking out that year’s coffee blend,” says Shane Watterson, Brewmaster for Laurelwood. “Portland Roasting does a great job with their coffee and they have a lot of organic options for us to blend, so it’s always a really fun experience finding the coffee for our stout each year.”

This blend produces the rich and chocolaty taste you find in quality espresso, enhanced by a warm aroma of dark roasted malts. In addition, the stout is Oregon Tilth certified organic – an element that Laurelwood Brewing Co. has been known to support.
