Delicious, creative, and reasonably priced, Kata Robata offers everything you’d want in a Japanese restaurant. While classic sushi preparations and signature rolls are spectacular, you can’t miss the winning plated dishes from chef Manabu Horiuchi, including miso lobster macaroni and cheese, uni chawanmushi, miso-crusted bone marrow, fresh catch ceviche, and grilled beef tongue. Save room for dessert; the toasted rice crème brûlée is a true standout.

  • My favorite Japanese restaurant in Houston! If you REALLY want to indulge yourself, sit at the sushi bar and have the Omakase (=chefs tasting), Hori-San and Philippe are Phe.no.me.nal!!!
  • Feeling adventurous? Tora-fugu, poisonous puffer fish flown in from Japan, meticulously prepared by Hori-san to remove all the poisonous parts. Served sashimi-style with mullet roe & crisp fugu skin.
  • Try the lobster Mac and cheese and you will not regret it. The ramen here is also some of the best I've had and the portions are large too.
  • Make a reservation! 30 minute wait at 6:30 on a Wenesday
  • My absolute favorite sushi place. The Kata Ramen was also just as delicious.
  • Disappointing katsu don. Better versions of it at Blue Fish and especially at Sage 400.
