How to Eat Vegan at Subway

This piece is adapted from peta2.

First, you’ll need to decide if you want a salad or a sandwich. If you’re getting a sandwich, get the Veggie Delite and head over to step one. Not into the whole carb thing? Order the Veggie Delite Salad and see step two.

Step 1

Pick one of these bread options:

  • Hearty Italian
  • Italian
  • Sourdough

Step 2

Customize your entrée with your favorite veggies! Try olive ’em—Subway won’t carrot all. (Yeah, we went there.)

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Green peppers
  • Red onions
  • Cucumbers
  • Spinach
  • Olives
  • Pickles
  • Jalapeños
  • Add guac or avocado (Yes, it costs extra!)

Step 3

Make things saucy with any of these options:

  • Yellow mustard
  • Deli brown mustard
  • Oil
  • Vinegar (but not the vinaigrette)
  • Sweet onion sauce
  • Fat-free Italian dressing

Step 4

Need a side to go with that cruelty-free masterpiece that you just created? Fair warning—these options vary at each location:

  • Apple slices
  • Lay’s Classic potato chips
  • Oven Baked Lay’s
  • SunChips Original

Pro tip: Take your Subway game to the next level by adding your own vegan toppings like Tofurky, or Daiya vegan cheese.

This clever Instagrammer added vegan chicken, vegan bacon, and Just Mayo. Get it, girl!

When I go to subway I just get an Italian sub with veggies. I look like a weirdo but they don't know how I pimp out my sub's #Vegan chicken bacon and veggie sub with #justmayo #veganeats #veganfoodshare #bestofvegan #subway #vegansubway #vegansub #yasss #healthychoices #healthyvegan #lotsofcalories #whatever #hungry #whatvegansdo #pimpmysub #vegandinner #veganeatz #veganfoodie

Subway is testing various specialty vegan patties (like Black Bean and Malibu Garden patties) at more than 400 locations throughout Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.—a sign of good things to come!
