  • The Twiga Terrace restaurant in the back between the African Forest and the giraffes sells beer. And you can sit outside and get drunk with a giraffe.
  • The new African section is pretty cool!
  • On rainy days, you might have the place all to yourselves. Just duck inside the tropical bird house, aquarium, reptile house, and the Natural Encounters building. Powered by ParentsConnect.com
  • Stop by the orangutan exhibit and say hello to Indah and her foster mom, Cheyenne.
  • This is a perfect attraction for family members. They also offer a summer camp for children up to 6th grade I believe to get acquainted with the zoo and become comfortable with the animals.
  • Free admission on the first Tuesday of each month. Great place for families, but also a great idea for a first date. If not from Houston, prepare for intense humidity and Texas heat.

  • Great photo opportunities, but, hot and steamy in June!
  • The jellyfish are my fave!
  • The zoo has an outstanding iPhone app that lists keeper talks, special events and has great GPS ability to keep track of your group
  • Awsome zoo
  • UH students receive free admission. Just bring your school ID.
  • Zoo lights is a wonderful outing for the family. They've added over a million lights since last year.
  • Once the weather becomes cooler, Weekdays around noon, is the best time to come, not a lot of people and the animals are out.
