This Venice neighborhood spot serves Italian favorites to diners hanging out on the trendy Abbot Kinney Boulevard. The menu ranges from charcuterie and cheese to oysters, and includes an impressive wine list, but the pizza is the draw. Gjelina offers a roster of crispy, thin-crust pies (15 at last count) as well as thoughtfully conceived dishes prepared using market-fresh ingredients. There are enticing pies like the squash blossom pizza with burrata, the cherrystone clam with tomato cream and pecorino, and guanciale with green olives, and Fresno chiles, but when you see house-made sausage, you know what you have to do: order the un-sauced lamb sausage pie featuring confit tomato, rapini, pecorino, and asiago. Mwha!

  • Let's face it - this place is sexy. And the food remains stellar at brunch, lunch, and dinner. Get the fried egg sandwich or the pizza w/ guanciale and green olives or the insane butterscotch pudding.
  • A neighborhoody spot that's filled with regulars, pick from seasonalsmall plate offerings and some skinny-crusted brick oven pizzas. The roasted vegetables are also a must-try.
  • Plush, sexy and irresistible atmosphere without the uptight snobbery! The food is dynamic and market fresh. They give a knock out brunch, so try it if youre in Venice! -Robin Leventhal, Top Chef
  • Gjelina is cheerful, boozy & known for both its good-looking customers & Travis Lett's decent organic-fetish Italian food. The scene may be as crunchy as the pizza crust, but relax: It's Abbot Kinney.
  • Everything is good except the cloth napkins, which leave white lint everywhere. Leave black pants at home.
  • Order the burrata and pears wrapped in prosciutto.
  • One of my favorites.
  • Try not to let the arrogance of the staff get in way of the food. The food is great. Pot de creme is why I'll never stop coming back.
  • Vegetables are a highlight, like grilled radicchio and charred romanesco. Pizza get its own section of the menu and is a must-order, be it mushrooms and beet greens or nettles with garlic confit.
  • Get the grits & eggs situation with a side of bacon and never look back.
  • Unfortunately, no advice for getting reservations, but once youre in, order the crispy fingerling potatoes and chickpea stew.
  • Skip the pasta, and skip the mushroom pizzas, which everyone seems to love but are actually rather flabby. For pizza, lamb sausage is the move. Also order: anything with burrata.
  • Amezing food, great looking crowd, beautiful space... what else can you ask for?
  • On Abbot Kinney, this is where you come on a 1st date. Their mushroom truffle pizza will definitely close the deal! - Tracy
  • Mushroom toast will change your life. Like butterscotch? The pot de creme will also change your life
  • Wow butterscotch
  • Great spot!
  • Butterscotch pot de creme. Trust.
  • Funny, people have been complaining about the attitude of the staff since 2010, yet the food remains consistently good. So throw it back if anyone gives you trouble at the door!
  • Everything on this menu is delicious. E-v-e-r-y-t-h-I-n-g.
