BEST FOOD TRUCKS 2012: #101

An old blue-and-yellow step van with the exortation "Admit it…you need a sandwich" on the side, Ebbett's turns up everywhere from the Mission District to the Embarcadero to Emerywille and Oakland, with a seasonal sandwich menu that includes tofu with Asian slaw, grilled English Cheddar with bacon and apples, and what can only be termed a Bay Area Cuban — Niman Ranch pulled pork, artisan ham, gruyère, jalapeño relish, and chipotle aïoli on an Acme Bakery roll. — Colman Andrews, 11/13/2012

Tips

  • Just do yourself a favor and get the Cuban
  • One of the best Cuban sandwiches I've ever had. They put gruyere on it! What?!
  • Outstanding Cuban sandwich!
  • follow/check their twitter @ebbettsgoodtogo for the daily locations and specials
  • There are plenty of modern Cubans out there, but none of them live up to Ebbetts Cuban
  • The Cuban is $$$.
  • Try the Short rib sandwich
  • The Cuban sandwich is like a Cuban cigar. Legendary.
  • The cuban is out of this world good
  • Try the Cuban Sandwich
  • Cuban sandwich- always a classic!
  • avoid if you don't like mayo - all the flavor is in the sauce
  • I wish they had their chili lime seasoning without the mayo- without the sauce the sandwiches are bland
  • I followed everyone's advice and I can agree. The Cuban is in fact quite the bomb diggity. If you like it spicy, add some sriracha.
  • Short rib sandwich. If its on the menu, get it. They only have it about once a year!
  • Great pickles.
  • They have the best meaty sandwich and the best vegetarian sandwich in the city. Make sure you try their specials because they are worth it. Lines start early.
  • The Sloppy Joe is a sandwich special that is not available every day. If you see it on the menu you MUST order it. You won't regret it.
