Foursquare Tips

  • One of New Orleans's most famous watering holes, this circus-themed piano bar has a carousel on its revolving bar.
  • A great spot for a Vieux Carr.
  • Get a Drink with @klausgnome
  • Usually crowded
  • Must sit at the bar, order a drink, and go around at least once.
  • I've only had one drink but it feels like the room is spinning. They must pour them strong here! Or...wait a sec!
  • Do some laps
  • Great place to chat. - Preston, Real World: New Orleans
  • Classy spot for a cocktail. If you're down for a weekend, make time to sit at the revolving bar (14 mins round trip!) and just chill for a bit. 10x classier crowd than what you'll find on Bourbon St.
  • The bar spins. And not in the Ive had a few too many its spinning way. A little hokey, but a trip or two around is worth it when you taste the tenders first drink. Best bet? A Ramos gin fizz.
  • The Vieux Carre was invented here in 1938. It's awesome. Get it.
  • The carosel bar will make you sick. don't do it!!!!!!
  • Nice atmosphere. Bartender Marvin makes great drinks. The rotating bar is awesome.
  • Find Klaus. Buy him a drink
  • Gambit's Best of New Orleans Readers' Poll 2012 Winner: Best Hotel Bar
  • Anything Marv makes
  • We enjoyed the Fleur de Lis and Pimm's Cup No. 1. The bartender, Neil, is an absolute pleasure and quickly becoming a celebrity as he was recently featured on Travel Channel's Booze Traveler TV show.
  • There is seating in other places, but let's be honest: you're here for the Carousel. Order a cocktail (I suggest a Sazerac, you're in NOLA) and chat with the bartenders.
  • If you're with a group and have more people than seats at the revolving bar, be sure to keep up!
  • Good place to see lots of tourists wearing flip flops. Recreate the carousel bar by just getting very drunk at a normal bar.
