Tips

  • French-leaning small plates can be cobbled together to compose an excellent & affordable meal here. Try the classic croque madame ($10) or thebrandade($9), a pot of featherlight whipped salt cod.
  • The best birthday restaurant offers a homey French feast, centered on a shareable dish like roasted chicken, for groups of 8 to 12 on the long kitchen table in the back.
  • If the Chevre is on the breakfast menu, get it
  • They've got Aesop soap and lotion in the bathroom. #classy
  • No place should ever charge over $14 for a glass of wine. Just sayin'
  • While dinner & brunch are perennially packed, Buvette is the perfect place to stop for a mid-afternoon or late-evening bite and aperitif. Unless you are part of a group of four, ask to sit at the bar.
  • Try the lentils w the classique aperitif!!
  • Best latte I've ever had. Cr'q Madame was divine. An nyc-brunch must
  • A charming, intimate French bar and restaurant from chef Jody Williams, equally fun for a quiet breakfast, the lively dinner scene, or a late-night bite and glass of wine.
  • Transport to France in this charming West Village spot. Fantastic coffee and nice drink menu
  • The croissants are crunchy and served with a delicious jam. The coffee is superb. Makes me nostalgic for the buvette in Paris, though this one is a little less cozy.
  • Delicioso lugar francs
  • [Restaurant/Bar] Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Crowded and awesome. Our favorite. Amazing small dishes. Sublime chocolate mousse. Nowhere near healthy, but who cares.
  • OMFG this iced coffee!!!
  • Usually packed in the evening, if you're looking for a more peaceful environment, try going at lunchtime.
  • Chocolate moose is to die for!
  • Incredible hidden gem. Mushroom herbed croque=Delish. Proschoot and fig,, I can't even....
  • Bring your passport for the airplane size portions!
  • Try the featherlight brandade. The whipped salt cod spread is one of our #100best dishes and drinks of 2011.
  • Adorable! LOVE this spot and all the food here. Small plates, so order a few to share. Food is reasonably priced but watch out for your drinks ($6 for a latte!).
