Oh my, my, my—ladies, you’ve totally brought your A-game this year. Rather than opt for black basics, celebrities chose to wear bright pops of color at the Screen Actors Guild Awards last night. The red carpet was filled with sparkling whites, bold purples, emerald greens and a few patterned numbers that made our hearts race just a little. Keira Knightly stuck to her latest m.o. of wearing large, baby-bump-hiding dresses, Jennifer Aniston chose an out-of-character, vintage John Galliano look and Lupita Nyong’o was gorgeous in a plunging Elie Saab gown. There were a few black pieces (there is just no getting away from them), but they pushed the envelope with suits like Julia Roberts’ Givenchy number or Emma Stone’s mini dress with a floor-length, sheer train. And even though Naomi Watts was almost killed after tripping over said train, that Dior ensemble did help Stone get to the top of many a best-dressed list. We’ll just assume it was a fashion casualty—that or she was trying to take out the competition. Well played, Emma. Well played.
