One of the reasons why the Lower East Side has such a reputable status among the city of New York is its restaurants. Some of the best Thai in NYC can be found among the booming LES food scene, including at The Lucky Bee, one of 2016’s hottest openings.

From its vibrant, fun decor to its mouthwatering, spicy southeast Asian cuisine, The Lucky Bee should be on your shortlist when you’re thinking about where to go for your next great meal. Below we breakdown some of its menu’s tasty offerings.

WHAT TO EAT AT THE LUCKY BEE
1. LOCAL OYSTERS

Similar to the Western style you’re probably familiar with, the oysters at The Lucky Bee are freshly shucked and served on a bed of ice. The accoutrements, however, are anything but familiar — lime instead of lemon, a complementary Thai chili sauce and an astringent, leafy herb — giving the classic, refreshing appetizer a deliciously spicy twist.

2. STEAMED PORK AND SESAME DUMPLINGS

What makes these guys stand out from other awesome ones of the kind? The outer layer of the dumplings at The Lucky Bee is thin so you can appreciate the fresh pork and sesame flavors on the inside, as well as the crunchiness of the fried garlic and tanginess of the Chinese black vinegar toppings.

3. TUNA TARTARE

While tuna tartare is quite mainstream on restaurant menus these days, The Lucky Bee’s version is anything but basic. The dish — prepared with roast chili, shallot, lime and popped wild rice — is a cooling, light dish that displays the smooth, firm texture of the raw fish.

4. SPICED MUSSAMAN CURRY OF LAMB SHOULDER

If you’re a fan of curry, you’ll be in heaven at The Lucky Bee which serves not one or two but three different selections. While the red curry with prawns and green curry with vegetables are both incredibly delicious, the Spiced Mussaman Curry of Lamb Shoulder with Kipfler potato and pineapple vinegar is the way to go if you’re looking for something extra warming.

5. LUCKY YOU LIBATION

Flawlessly presented and famous on Instagram, the Lucky You cocktail is as delicious as it is pretty. Served inside of a shaved coconut, the exotic beverage includes infused light rum, coconut cream, fresh coconut water and pineapple juice, and honey. It’s like dessert and alcohol got married, and we couldn’t envision a better match.
