With three locations, Pearlz Oyster Bar is the place to go for oysters in the state. The flagship is located in Charleston’s historic district, the second is located in Columbia’s Congaree Vista district, and the newest is located in the West Ashley neighborhood of Avondale.
The menu obviously highlights oysters, but plenty of other seafood options are available. Clams are available raw, steamed, or in a white wine garlic broth; cod sliders, crab cake sandwiches, tuna burgers and tacos, New England lobster rolls, and oysters Rockefeller are also standouts.
If you’re not in the mood for shellfish, you can order fish and chips, a burger (topped with bacon, blue cheese, and balsamic onions) and a New York strip. There are also plenty of Low Country classics like shrimp and grits, Southern-fried oysters, and a fried shrimp dinner with corn fritters.
Be sure to ask what the catch of the day is; it changes daily and is available blackened, fried, seared, or grilled, and is served with your choice of seven sauces.
