The Queen of England Travels Everywhere With This Snack

The Queen of England may drink Champagne every day, but she’s not quite so fancy about everything she consumes. Darren McGrady, a former chef to Queen Elizabeth II, revealed in an interview with Recipes Plus that the queen never travels without her favorite snack: a chocolate biscuit cake. For example, when she is traveling to Windsor or other places around her kingdom, she may ask a royal chef to accompany her with the choice dessert in tow. And while royal desserts might typically be shared with staff once the queen has had her slice, Elizabeth insists on handling her favorite dessert personally. "Now the Chocolate Biscuit Cake is the only cake that goes back again and again and again every day until it's all gone," McGrady told Recipes Plus. "She'll take a small slice every day until eventually there is only one tiny piece, but you have to send that up, she wants to finish the whole of that cake."

But even though it’s been a long time since most of us have sampled a McPizza, one enterprising fast-food journalist decided to hunt down the last two remaining McDonald’s locations in the United States that still sell the coveted item. His reward was a floppy, oven-fired personal pie, and our reward was 35 oddly entertaining podcast episodes in which Brian Thompson attempts to answer the all-important question: “Whatever Happened to Pizza at McDonald’s?”

New Jersey Is Getting Its First Cat Café

Cat lovers in New Jersey, rejoice: You no longer have to travel to Manhattan to get your cat and coffee fix. Within the next few months, New Jersey’s first cat café, Catsbury Park, is expected to open in Asbury Park. Similar to other cat café concepts, Catsbury Park will be divided into two rooms, one with cats and one without, to comply with heath code regulations that prohibit preparing and serving food in the same room as animals, NJ.com reported; however, guests will be able to bring café items into the cat room if they want to. In terms of operations, the café will function as a for-profit enterprise, while the adoption service will run as a nonprofit.

Starbucks Japan's New Frappuccino Comes With a Pie Crust Lid

U.S. Starbucks fans are going to have a reason to feel jealous, because Starbucks Japan is getting a new Frappuccino designed to taste like American pie. According to Rocket News 24, the new American Cherry Pie Frappuccino is meant to resemble a slice of cherry pie with ice cream, but in a cup. The vanilla Frappuccino has a thick layer of cherry pie filling on the bottom of the cup, with bite-sized bits of pie mixed in. The whole thing is topped with a domed “lid” made of pie crust.
