Starbucks Japan's New Frappuccino Comes With A Pie Crust Lid

Starbucks Japan gets all the most envy-inducing limited-time menu items, from chestnut lattes to baked apple Frappuccinos, and U.S. customers can do nothing but look on in envy. Now U.S. Starbucks fans are going to have a real reason to feel jealous, because Starbucks Japan is getting a new Frappuccino designed to taste like American pie.

According to Rocket News 24, the new American Cherry Pie Frappuccinos are meant to basically be a slice of cherry pie with ice cream, but in a cup. The Frappuccinos have a thick layer of cherry pie filling on the bottom of the cup, topped with a vanilla Frappuccino with bite-sized bits of pie in it, and then there's another layer of cherry pie filling on top, then some whipped cream. Most notably, the whole cup is topped with a domed "lid" made of pie crust. To get to the Frappuccino, a person has to poke a hole in the lid with a straw.

The American Cherry Pie Frappuccino will be available from April 13 to May 16, and it will sell for 640 yen, or about $5.80.
