The James Beard Foundation's Taste America Comes To New Orleans
The James Beard Foundation continues its third annual Taste America 10-city tour across the U.S., landing in New Orleans on Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10. For six weeks between September 18 to November 7, lucky food-lovers of Boston, Charleston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, and of course, New Orleans have the opportunity to mingle with celebrity chefs at exclusive dinners, tastings, and culinary demonstrations.
Join an exciting line up of local James Beard Award-winning chefs for a night that is sure to be unforgettable. Chefs Tory McPhail (Commander's Palace), Ryan Prewitt (Pêche), Alon Shaya (Shaya), Stephen Stryjewski (Cochon), and Sue Zemanick (Gautreau's) will begin the evening of October 9 with a tasting reception, followed by a seated, four-course dinner created by April Bloomfield (The Breslin, The John Dory Oyster Bar, Salvation Taco, The Spotted Pig, and Tosca Cafe), Donald Link (Pêche), pastry chef Jeremy Fogg (Emeril's), and host chef Eric Damidot (Boudin & Beer).
The following day, October 10, at Baton Rouge's Sur La Table, Nespresso will hold a coffee tasting at 9:30 a.m., followed by a cooking demonstration and book signing by chef Bloomfield at noon, and both a kefir tasting and Breville product demonstration at 12:30 p.m. The event will conclude with a cooking demonstration and book signing by Kit Wohl, author of The James Beard Foundation's Best of the Best: A 25th Anniversary Celebration of America's Outstanding Chefs. Kitchen space is limited for chef demonstrations, so please RSVP in order to guarantee your seat, and be sure to indicate the number of guests (maximum two) and time of the cooking demonstration you wish to attend.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Taste America Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to students in each Taste America host state.
