President Trump Pushes a Button to Order Coke on Demand

It’s no secret that the president enjoys his fast-food indulgences, but did you know that Donald Trump actually has a button on his desk that he uses to order Coke on demand? In a recent lengthy interview with the Associated Press, that small detail has caught everyone’s eye. “A man accustomed to wealth and its trappings, Trump has embraced life in the Executive Mansion, often regaling guests with trivia about the historic décor,” writes journalist Julie Pace. “With the push of a red button placed on the Resolute Desk that presidents have used for decades, a White House butler soon arrived with a Coke for the president.” This is the first known instance of a president installing a red call button on the Resolute Desk itself.

This Pop-Up Restaurant Only Served Airplane Food

Air New Zealand set out to reverse the stereotype that all airline food is gross or bland with a pop-up dining experience that only served airplane food. “This Is How We Fly” was a promotional exhibit presented in London's Unit London Gallery from April 25 through 26. Visitors had the opportunity to “check in” on a virtual flight and try out gourmet airplane food like “lamb with minted peas, braised lettuce with bacon lardons, and salt-roasted crushed new potatoes with mint jelly” and a “yogurt marinated chicken tikka with saffron pilaf jeweled rice and aloo ghobi with spicy raita dressing.”

Naeba Prince Hotel

Japan Has Cherry Blossom Curry and It’s Pink

Every spring in Japan the cherry blossoms start blooming, and cherry blossom-flavored food starts appearing. Now, one Japanese hotel is selling a special, limited-edition cherry blossom curry, and it’s pink. According to Rocket News 24, the Restaurant Azalea in the Niigata-Naeba Prince Hotel in Niigata Prefecture is selling the sakura curry from April 29 through May 7. The pink curry is flavored with cherry blossoms to make it sweet and fragrant like flowers, but it actually gets its light pink color from beets. Cherry blossom curry with beef, lamb, or chicken might be a bit of a hard sell, so the pink curry is served with white rice and broccoli, lotus root, and potato.
