A Complete Guide to Donald Trump’s Favorite Foods

The president is generally unpredictable — but if there’s anything we can be sure that Trump isn’t, it’s a health nut. The commander in chief’s gastronomic reputation is littered with fast-food wrappers, greasy napkins, and empty cans of Diet Coke. Surprising, especially for a man with deep-rooted insecurities about his physique, but the evidence does not lie.

While previous presidents’ terms in office have resulted in major strides towards better school lunches and nutrition education programs, President Trump’s policy team has been less ambitious in this realm. When you look at the dietary habits of the man behind it all, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Why fight the fast-food industry when you can gorge on it?

The president does have some healthier options on his menu, though — so perhaps a brighter nutritional horizon is ahead for America’s leader. To piece it all together, we took an in-depth look at some of Donald Trump’s favorite foods.

Bacon and Eggs

Like many Americans, Trump skips breakfast. “My big thing is dinner,” he told Fox News. When he does indulge, however, he enjoys large servings of a cholesterol bomb of a pairing: bacon and eggs. On one occasion, he ordered the duo with a greasy side of hash browns and biscuits. The resulting mammoth plate was so loaded that it could compete with even the most caloric fast-food breakfasts.

Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream

President Trump’s favorite ice cream flavor is a classic one: cherry vanilla. Though he loves many types of ice cream, when he can, he really sticks to the one.

Well, one flavor, but always two scoops. In a reveal from a White House attendee about the dinner habits of the president, it was discovered that Trump always gets two scoops of ice cream alongside his chocolate cream pie, while everybody else gets one.

Chocolate Cake

The president loves his desserts. He especially loves chocolate cake, as was revealed during his on-screen recollection of a major military decision. Trump made the controversial decision to launch 59 unmanned missiles into Syria, and fondly mused over the memory with a Fox News correspondent. He told the reporter he had been sharing “the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake that you have ever seen” with Chinese president Xi Jinping at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

“We’re now having dessert,” he gave the play-by-play, “and we had the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake that you’ve ever seen, and President Xi was enjoying it.”

Cobb Salad

Trump gets a lot of flak for his reckless eating, but a source recently told Axios that he’s been trying to clean things up. “He does eat salad,” the source insisted, faced with listeners’ disbelief. “He’ll eat, like, Cobb salad.” Drenched in ranch, cheese, egg, and bacon, a Cobb salad is the safest, least vegetable-heavy option for a meal of lighter fare, we suppose.

Cornflakes

If Trump is eating breakfast — and can’t find a way to get his hands on some bacon and eggs — he’ll go for a crunchy bowl of Corn Flakes. “Right out of the fields of Iowa,” he told Fox News right before skipping a debate ironically located in Iowa.

Deep-Fried Macaroni and Cheese

During his campaign, Trump made a number of public pit-stops for grub. One of his most memorable was at a diner, where customers shouted accusations of racism in his direction. He ordered a hamburger, Diet Coke, and a side of deep-fried macaroni and cheese. Perhaps the criticism had him craving comfort food?

Diet Soda

Trump himself once tweeted, “I have never seen a thin person drink Diet Coke.” Though there are some tricky debates surrounding the healthfulness of the stuff, Trump guzzles his own large orders of diet soda with reckless abandon. He often slurps the stuff with dinner, orders it alongside his fast food, and even uses the secret red button in the White House to order a glass desk-side when the craving strikes.

French Fries

Trump loves his burgers, and he never orders them without a heaping side of salty French fries. The president is a frequent customer of McDonald’s and gobbles up those 20-plus ingredients without hesitation.

He is, however, picky about any fries ordered from less reliable vendors. Writer Jen Deadrick tweeted a story relayed from her former roommate, a pastry chef at an upscale restaurant. Trump had ordered fries there, but repeatedly sent them back (at least four times!), claiming they weren’t good enough. The chef eventually gave up, sending someone to buy a package of frozen fries, which Trump was served — and which he deemed perfect.

Fried Chicken

Though he frequents steakhouses and upscale establishments, Trump can’t go too long without chowing down on a bucket of KFC. On the campaign trail in 2016, he was pictured beaming in a glitzy private jet, leaning over a half-eaten order of the chain’s fried chicken.

Hamburgers

His adoration for fast-food burgers is a given. Big Macs, Quarter Pounders — you name it, Trump loves it. But his go-to is a satisfying order from the 21 Club, reportedly his favorite restaurant. The president orders a “21” Burger, cooked well-done and topped with American cheese. The burger costs $36 and is made with a mix of three prime cuts of meat, including a short rib. Only the finest cuts are used for the commander in chief, we’re sure.

Lay’s Potato Chips

While previous presidents have stocked the White House pantry with almonds and the garden with every vegetable but one, Trump immediately had Obama’s healthy stash of nuts replaced with a choice that aligned with the types of snacks you’ll find on his private plane — Lay’s Potato Chips. They were ready and waiting for him when he moved in. We bet it felt just like home.

McDonald’s

McDonald’s

Trump truly loves all forms of fast food. He’s notorious for gobbling up a Quarter Pounder or chowing down on a Big Mac, whether or not he’s on the road. Historically a customer of Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Burger King, and Carl’s Jr., he applauds the chains for meeting his particular expectations of “cleanliness.”

“I think you’re better off going there than someplace you have no idea where the food is coming from,” he said. “It’s a certain standard.”

The president’s favorite order? The McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish. Or as he called it: “You know, the Fish Delight.”

Meatloaf Sandwiches

While Martha Stewart and Trump have had their differences, they have since reconciled, even going so far as to make meatloaf together. The food was chosen because it has historically been one of Trump’s favorites — though he prefers digging in to a hefty meatball sandwich.

His adoration for the beefy dish is so strong he even forced Governor Chris Christie to order the dish when the pair dined together in February. “Chris, you and I are going to have the meatloaf,” the president reportedly said, assertively making the governor’s dinner choice an easy one.

Pizza… Toppings, Only

How you eat your pizza can say a lot about you. Make of this what you will: Trump eats his with a fork, scraping off the toppings and never ever eating the crust. Left behind on his plate, you’ll find a mangled slab of bread; the president reportedly thinks this tactic helps him keep his weight down.

Pork

Famously photographed gnawing on a pork chop while sporting his red “Make America Great Again” cap, the president sure loves his fatty meats. Bacon, pork chops on a stick, and other pork-based products frequently appear in his diet.

Seafood

Alongside his occasional Cobb salad, Trump has added healthy seafood to his menu in an attempt to lighten up White House fare.

“The steak-and-potatoes narrative is true,” a source revealed. “But he also really likes fish and seafood — so, like crab and shrimp.”

See’s Candies

For dessert, Trump loves cherry-vanilla ice cream. But he also indulges in See’s Candies, manufacturer of chocolate, lollipops, toffees, and more. This isn’t the chain that makes “Trump sucks” lollipops — though those do exist.

Taco Bowls

In an attempt to reach out to the Hispanic community, Trump infamously lauded his dietary choice of a large, meaty taco bowl on his favorite social media platform. The crispy shell was stuffed to the brim with taco meat, salsa, sour cream, and cheese. No lettuce or other vegetable could be spotted.

The now-president tweeted the meal with a message to supporters reading, “Happy #CincoDeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!”

Not surprisingly, this did not go over well with the Hispanic community, which has very few members who ever actually eat these bowls. But alas, Trump loved the meal almost as much as he loves Americans.

Vienna Fingers

Though he’s vowed to swear off Oreos due to their production being located in Mexico, Trump hasn’t shaken his crème-filled cookie habit. He’s turned to an apparent favorite of his, vanilla-flavored Keebler Vienna Fingers. When an aide was queried as to whether Trump had ever opted for fruit and nuts instead, the aide replied, “Never seen it.”

Virgin Bloody Marys

He won’t touch booze. But he does love tomatoes, as is proven by his love for meatloaf, meat sauce, ketchup, and the strangest of them all — virgin Bloody Marys. “It’s like his version of a cocktail,” said an aide in an interview. You might ask, But isn’t that just spiced tomato juice on ice? Why, yes. Yes it is.

Well-Done Steak With Ketchup

The epitome of class, Trump orders his steak well-done — and proceeds to slather it with ketchup. Why he doesn’t just order a burger is beyond us. It sounds like a big, meaty Quarter Pounder is what the president is really craving, even when he orders a nicer cut of meat.

We kid with him, but we do have to give Trump credit where credit is due. The one unhealthy food Trump will never crave continues to be alcohol — a refreshing change from the messy drinking habits of America’s previous presidents.
