10 Best-Value Fast Food Kids Meals In 2026

Is fast food the healthiest thing you can feed your kids? Of course not, but it is quick, easy, and delicious. To be a parent is to be permanently busy, and sometimes, you just have to get food on the table. When the Happy Meal first rolled out, overwhelmed parents everywhere could suddenly get a quick and easy lunch box for hungry kids. Now that just about every fast food joint has a kids' menu, though, it's easy to feel spoiled for choice.

The first-ever Happy Meals weren't all that different from today, but the innovation of adding a one-sentence kids' order has reverberated through the years. Kids' menus began back in the Prohibition era, and even though we're a long way away from that, trying to stretch a dollar is a timeless desire. To compile this list, we're taking into account factors like price, portion sizes, nutrition, and kid-friendliness. Keep in mind that prices and availability can vary by location. Here are the fast-food kids' meals that offer the best value in 2026.

10. Chick-Fil-A: Five-count nuggets kids' meal

If you're looking for a tasty kids' meal, Chick-Fil-A has got you covered. While the only entrée choice is chicken, you can at least choose whether it's fried or grilled. For us, the five-count nuggets wins out over the two-count strips thanks to the nuggets having 40 fewer calories. Kids' meal nuggets are also pulled from the same batch that adult nugget orders come from, so the quality is consistent. As far as sides go, options abound. Waffle fries are a fun shape, and the portion size is pretty large, relative to other kids' meals on this list. That said, if your child wants something besides fries? There are plenty of other great items to choose from, including mac and cheese, applesauce, a fruit cup, or waffle potato chips. That's right, Chick-Fil-A has two different potato-based sides, and both are shaped like waffles.

One exciting aspect of Chick-Fil-A is that you can choose between a toy and a dessert. Don't feel like messing around with a fast food toy? See if your child would prefer ice cream. If you ask us, that's great flexibility to have.

The drawback at Chick-Fil-A is the price. At the branch we checked, a five-count nugget kids' meal was a pricey $7.15. We also found plenty of people on the internet lamenting that their kids loved Chick-Fil-A, but the chain's prices were out of control. For that reason, Chick-Fil-A comes in at the lowest spot on our list.

9. Popeyes: One-piece leg meal

Popeyes' one-piece leg kids' meal is a little divisive. For $5.49, kids get a fried drumstick, a Gogo squeeze applesauce, and a drink. Whether that amount of food is enough is up to you and your kiddo.

There's a lot to love about Popeyes. For one, it's the fried chicken chain that Anthony Bourdain couldn't get enough of, and the food is incredible. For another, those Gogo Squeez applesauce packets are great for eating on the go. If one drumstick is enough to satisfy a young appetite, then your little one can have fun gnawing meat off the bone.

It's understandable, though, if people balk at the amount of food offered. It might be hard to look at a single drumstick and applesauce and be able to call it a satisfying dinner. Some are fine with one drumstick, but then, it might be better value for the adult to order a larger meal, give the kid a piece of chicken, and replace the applesauce with a different side. The food might taste great here, but the meager portions keep Popeyes low on our list.

8. Sonic: Hamburger Wacky Pack

Wacky Pack meals at Sonic come with a standard amount of food: A burger, drink, and your choice of fries, tots, or applesauce. What impresses us is that the hamburger meal comes in at just 270 calories. Keeping something as tasty as a hamburger down to such a reasonable calorie count should definitely make parents feel better about Wacky Packs. At $5.79, the price is a bit higher than other places on our list, which knocks Sonic down a few spots.

Some reviewers have a lot of high praise for the tots and fries, while being unimpressed with the burger, though others say that the burger tastes better than McDonald's. Such varying opinions give another reason to place Sonic lower on our list. One point in its favor is that people seem to like the toys here, and if you're a collector, some branches will even sell complete sets of toys. Another bonus is that if you're craving a breakfast burrito, Sonic never stops serving breakfast.

7. Arby's: Ham slider kids' meal

Arby's is a good fast food option if your kiddo is into deli meats. A ham and cheese sandwich is a kid-friendly option, and at $4.99, the price isn't bad, either. The ham and cheese slider has 420 calories, which is the lowest amount of any kids' meals served here. It's simply made, too, with ham, cheese, and a pillowy soft bun that adds up to a blissful bite. Kids' meals here also include fries and a drink, and Arby's curly fries are a classic fan favorite. If your child has never experienced the bouncy joys of curly fries, Arby's is the place to be.

One knock against Arby's, in this ranking, is that the toys seem to be complete afterthoughts, and there's a chance you may not get one at all. Your mileage may vary on how important toy quality is in a kids' meal, especially if you're an adult just looking to save a couple of bucks by ordering from the kids' menu. If your kiddo is excited to get a toy, though, consider this a forewarning about the ones at Arby's.

6. KFC: Five-piece nugget kids meal

Fried chicken is always a special treat, even if your child isn't quite ready to gnaw chicken off the bone just yet. KFC makes good chicken nuggets, and that quality extends to the five-piece kids' meal. A heads up about nutrition, though: The calorie count in KFC kids' meals varies a lot, depending which sides you choose. The five-piece nugget meal runs between 260 and 910 calories, while the two-piece tender meal can be anywhere from 480 to 760. If that's a concern for you, the nugget meal makes it easier to get a lower-calorie order.

Being able to choose your own side is a point in KFC's favor. Things like mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and sweet corn are all dishes that kids enjoy, but aren't often found on fast-food kids' menus. The taste, of course, is what you expect from the Colonel. KFC makes chicken nuggets that drive some people wild. Still, there's not enough here to vault KFC out of the middle of the pack. The prices and portion sizes aren't bad, but they're nothing to write home about.

5. Culver's: Corn dog meal

If you and your kids haven't had the Culver's experience yet, let this be the encouragement you need to seek out the Midwestern chain. Sure, at $6.59, the Culver's corn dog meal is among the pricier items on this list, but there's a lot for kids to enjoy. For one thing, a corn dog is a kid-friendly food. Any time you get to eat food on a stick is a fun time.

Kids also get a choice of fries or applesauce, as well as a drink, but the really exciting bit is dessert — Kids' meals at Culver's come with a free scoop of frozen custard, and it comes in plenty of flavors. As well as standard options, like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, there are also rotating flavors of the day.

What kid is saying no to a corn dog and frozen custard? Besides, the corn dogs here are top tier, and some people laud them as being worthy of a state fair. For a Midwestern fast food chain, that kind of praise is like winning gold in the Olympics. For a family looking to get good value out of a kids' meal, Culver's might be a tad on the pricier side, but the quality of food and free scoop of frozen custard are enough for us to rate this one pretty highly.

4. Chipotle: Build your own tacos

Two big factors put Chipotle high on our list: Customizable meals and fresh, healthy options. With build-your-own tacos, kids can choose crunchy or soft tortillas, which type of meat, rice, and beans they want, and toppings. Meals also come with an included side of either fruit or chips. Chipotle has an impressively low price of $5.10, given the quality of the ingredients here. We're giving Chipotle extra credit for featuring vegetables and legumes as prominently as meat and potatoes. Guacamole is full of fiber and healthy fats, while beans have high amounts of fiber and protein, and are packed with B vitamins, potassium, and zinc.

One thing about the Chipotle kids' meal is that it might be too much food for some kids. This isn't necessarily a problem, though. Maybe you could save the leftovers, let two kids split one meal, or even share a little of it yourself. However you and the children in your charge end up enjoying a Chipotle kids' meal, there's no denying that it's a good value purchase. The fact that you can be reasonably health-conscious while customizing your meal is a big point in Chipotle's favor. The only thing that keeps this joint lower on our list than the next three restaurants is that $5 price tag.

3. Burger King: Cheeseburger King Jr. meal

At Burger King, kids can feel like royalty, because kids' meals come with a fun paper crown. Parents don't even have to break the bank, either, as every kids' meal here is $3.99. We recommend the cheeseburger King Jr. meal, which comes with a choice of applesauce, fries, or onion rings on the side. You also get a drink and a toy. The fries come in a hefty portion, and the burgers have that classic Burger King open flame taste. Whether for kids or adults, the burgers at this chain are high-quality fast food items.

At 555 calories, the cheeseburger meal has 100 more calories than the four-piece chicken nugget meal, which is the lowest-calorie meal on the menu. Even though the burger has more calories, people seem to favor the beef at Burger King over the chicken. Sometimes, it's best to order the item that a place does best, and chicken nuggets are not the best-selling item at Burger King. One thing to be aware of is that the standard drink options for these meals are apple juice or milk. Ordering a soda will cost extra. Still, a delicious burger meal, the brief joy that comes from crowning yourself, and a price tag under $4? That's enough for us to put Burger King's kids' meal pretty high up in our ranking.

2. Wendy's: Four-piece chicken nuggets

Wendy's offers a four-piece chicken nugget meal with your choice of fries or apple bites as a side, a drink, and a toy for $3.29. Compared to everywhere we looked, that's really great value. A four-piece is often enough for a kid, and these nuggets will taste familiar to kids who already enjoy McDonald's. Online reviewers have also noticed that Wendy's gives more fries than McDonald's, and they taste great, too.

While some will say that Wendy's toys aren't as good as those from other places, there are some gems here. Reportedly, kids under age three usually get a board book, which is good to know if you're looking to beef up your child's bookshelves. Four nuggets, a side, a drink, and a book for under four bucks? Now that's a bargain. Given the great taste, low price, and decent portion size, Wendy's is a strong contender for the best value on our list. The chain will have to settle for a very respectable second place, though, because there's one fast food joint with an iconic kids' meal that we haven't given the spotlight yet.

1. McDonald's: Four-piece chicken McNugget meal

At 375 calories, the four-piece chicken McNugget meal is the lowest-calorie option for a McDonald's Happy Meal. Meals come with a drink, usually milk or apple juice, and the sides to choose from include fries and apple slices, or an extra serving of either item. Giving two sides at a low price is what wins McDonald's the top spot in our ranking of best value kids' meals.

A helpful trick with this meal, too, is that if you substitute extra fries for the apple slices, then you're almost getting the same amount of food as a six-piece value meal, but for a lower price. It's a good tip for adults looking to save a few bucks.

While this ranking is mostly food- and cost-focused, some consideration has to be made for the iconic cultural status of the Happy Meal, too. The box is recognizable from a mile away, and a meal consistently has quality toys that kids love (McDonald's will even let you buy extra toys individually if you ask). For both kids and collectors alike, you can buy these toys separately, and plenty among us have fond memories of toys from McDonald's Happy Meals. This chain is the first place many people think of when they think of fast food kids' meals, and for good reason.
