Thrillist's Best Day Of Your Life Recap
This past Saturday, June 21, was the first day of summer, so the sun was shining longer than any other day. To celebrate, Thrillist threw a huge party in the East Village. It was their second annual "Best Day of Your Life" celebration, and for $65 you got an all access pass to thirteen venues throughout the city. And that's not the best part. At each location there was great food, signature cocktails, and fun surprises.
The day began at The Roost, a coffee shop and bar, for a delicious espresso old fashioned and a helping of Insomnia cookies. The next stop was Percy's Tavern, where soccer fans could watch the game, get a cool beer, and munch on delicious pigs in a blanket. After that it was loaded tater tots and airbrush tattoos at the Double Wide, and signature pulled pork biscuits from Empire Biscuit.
After a quick break, the fun began again with pork buns at Juke Bar, refreshing punch, and spring rolls at Jeepney, and crisp hard ciders at Bar 13.
But the food and drinks were only one part of the party. Throughout the day new surprises popped up to keep us energized. At Beauty Bar, an Elvis impersonator entertained guests while they sipped on redheaded cocktails, and outside of the Nugget Spot, two men in chicken suits put on an awesome performance. The highlight of the day, though, was having Joe's Pizza randomly deliver a slice on the way to a venue. It was the perfect pick-me-up.
The party was a complete blast, hitting 13 unforgettable venues in five hours. Keep your eye out for the party next year, because it is one you won't want to miss if you're in the New York area.
