Starbucks Made Mermaid Frappuccinos Official In Mexico

While the #PSL craze was getting ready to take over America, something a bit more magical was happening at Starbucks locations just south of the border.

For a few days last month, new Mermaid Frappuccino was sold by the Seattle-based coffee chain, made up of the "fantastical characteristics and classic elements of these creatures," according to a press release from the company. You would have had to take a trip to Mexico to try one, however, as they were only available at one of the country's 600 Starbucks locations.

A Frappuccino crème base mixed with melon makes up this flavor, along with "magical flavor from the sea." The drink was then further beautified with blue whipped cream topped with blue and pink sprinkles.

The fantastical drink came months after the mania that was the Unicorn Frappuccino here in the United States, and was inspired, of course, by the company's iconic logo. Mermaid Frappuccinos were available here in the States in an unofficial capacity, when customers were able to order the Pokémon Go Frappuccino without raspberry syrup. This officially-sanctioned Mermaid Frappuccino has run its course in Mexico now, and unfortunately, it is unlikely to make an appearance stateside, as some of its ingredients are not available in U.S. stores. Don't be too sad, though; there are plenty of drinks you can customize for yourself using Starbucks' secret menu.
