A Summertime Treat: Visiting Magnum New York's Meatpacking District Pop-Up Location

Fashion and ice cream collide at this summer's Magnum New York pop-up store, which promotes the popular brand of ice cream bars. While there are many ice cream shops throughout Manhattan, the annual pop-up store in the Meatpacking District is unlike all the rest.

Oversized Magnum replicas line the windows, which are adored with crystals resembling yellow taxis, water towers and the High Line. The ice cream brand even teamed up with renowned fashion designer Moschino to showcase the dessert-inspired designs on handbags and clothing.

The ice cream fun begins when people walk up to the Dipping Bar. You can choose between a vanilla bean or chocolate ice cream bar, which is then dipped in your choice of milk, dark or white chocolate. You're then guided to the final station, which is where you can get really creative, choosing from 20 unique sweet and savory toppings.

Rose petals, sweet coconut flakes, mint chocolate chips, and gold crystal candy are among the topping options, and with the large number of ingredients, it means there are over 200,000 ice cream bar possibilities, making almost every bar is a unique creation.

The options allow people to create an ultra-sweet treat or add a savory touch. The decision might be hard, but people can test their taste buds with the Himalayan salt, caramel half-popped popcorn or dark chocolate chia seeds.

Finished with an edible logo and chocolate drizzle, the end result is a very impressive ice cream bar. But, before taking a bite out of their new creation, you can photograph your ice cream bars at a "selfie station." With a purple or pink background and ideal selfie lighting, it is the last step before cracking open the hard chocolate shell.

This isn't the first time the Instagram worthy treats company opened a seasonal pop-up store; lines of New Yorkers stretched outside their SoHo location last year. They've been opening pop-up store throughout the world, including London, Milan, Cannes, and Tel Aviv. If you want to pay it a visit, it'll be open through late September at 875 Washington Street.
