Where To Dine With Mom In Houston On Mother's Day 2016

Whether it's lunch, dinner, or the gift of chocolate, surprise mom with something delicious this Mother's Day!

Damian's Cucina Italiana
Tried and true, the family-owned Italian "cucina" located in midtown's lively neighborhood is one Houstonians have been frequenting on special occasions for years. Despite its urban backdrop, the warmth interior of the restaurant along with its friendly staff makes it a favorite among locals. This Mother's Day, Damian's invites guests to treat Mom to a three-course prix fixe menu presented in traditional Italian-American style. Savory selections include Lobster Bisque with a touch of sherry wine and shrimp Damian with fettucine alfredo. The $49.95 per person price tag is both for lunch and dinner on Sunday, May 8th, but as is always the case at Damian's, reservations are a must.

Cacao & Cardamom
While a new pair of shoes may be on every Mother's Day wish list, ones made of chocolate will delight perhaps on an even more satisfying level. Houston's premiere chocolate boutique Cacao & Cardamom has created women's size six shoes made entirely of chocolate — indeed a fun spin on what is arguably a woman's favorite accessory. Customers can choose to purchase the specialty shoes in white, milk, or dark chocolate at the Uptown chocolate shop through Mother's Day weekend. In addition to Cacao & Cardamom's famed signature flavors, a selection of new flavors are being added to the menu including the Hot Mama Chocolate, a dark chocolate ganache infused with smoked paprika and layered with a white peach pate de fruit.

Etoile
If a trip to "Gay Paree" isn't on the itinerary for Mom this year, treat her to the next best thing- a charming Sunday brunch at Etoile. The cozy sidewalk café welcomes guests to dine on the patio with picturesque Uptown Park as a backdrop or in the dining room where the authentic country décor pairs well with the traditional French cuisine. Etoile will host a Mother's Day brunch from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. featuring selections that include foie gras au torchon and filet de sole meuniere. Priced at $68 per person, it will surely feel like an afternoon in Paris.

Radio Milano
As one of Houston's premiere retail and dining destinations, City Centre is sure to be bustling with activity throughout Mother's Day weekend. Located within the posh Hotel Sorella, Radio Milano invites guests to enjoy either brunch or dinner in between catching a flick at Studio Movie Grill or treating Mom to some retail therapy at one of the many boutiques at the plaza. The Italian restaurant known for its contemporary cuisine will first offer brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. which will include pasta, carving, and salad stations for $40 per person. But for a more formal affair, the three-course, prix fixe dinner is only $10 more per person and table reservations will be accepted from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The prix fixe menu will spotlight dishes like the sunchoke crispi with shallot and smoked salmon and Chocolate Mousse with blood orange sauce, nougatine and sesame seed ice cream. A beautiful way to begin or end the day at City Centre, Radio Milano offers an ideal setting to celebrate mom.

The Tuck Room
While movie watching may seem lacking in the bonding department, the new iPic Theater at River Oaks District does offer something tasty and enticing for moms this holiday. The ultra hip movie theater, which also houses the Tuck Room (a "drinking den" of sorts), invites guests to revel in the ultimate "Mom-osa" Bar. Moms can choose from a variety of fruit purees or juices including passion fruit, blood orange, and yuzu, while also deciding how to properly customize their flutes with appropriate garnishes to create their favorite mimosas. The unlimited "Mom-osa" bar is priced at $30 and will be available in the Tuck Room from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Mother's Day.

Holley's Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar
Known to bring the thunder on special occasions, executive chef Mark Holley brings a robust variety of Southern-inspired seafood dishes to a prix fixe Mother's Day brunch at his eponymous restaurant in midtown. With offerings like the miso glazed pork ribs and gazpacho blanco or the fried cornish hen and Southern eggs Benedict, as well as dessert options like the white velvet cheesecake, mom better be ready to feast like a queen!

Sorrento Ristorante
As much fun as it is to dine out on special occasions, prix fixe menus are not for everyone. A popular dining destination for birthday brunches, bridal showers, and ladies lunches, the charming Sorrento's Ristorante in Montrose is offering a special Mother's Day menu featuring a la carte dishes and drinks. In addition to mimosas, bellinis, and bloody mary's, Sorrento's will offer guests a full menu of signature dishes including escargot with garlic and butter, Mediterranean salad, and butternut squash ravioli. The intimate vibe of the the restaurant's main dining room along with the adjacent veranda provide an ideal setting to celebrate mom.
